I didn't get to watch any of the show last week (Wednesday night was band rehearsal at the church and then I had a meeting on Thursday night.)... but I was glad to hear that Adam and Allison made it through to the final 12.Once again... I am going to write down my thoughts about each performance on tonight's show in real-time. So... here we go:
First up...
Von Smith: The boy's got some pipes. The only thing that I don't like... is the thin "Clay-like" sound that he has. This is sooo much better than his Hollywood performance. I am pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting him to sound this good. I just don't know if I like his voice.
Ha ha! Simon said that he reminds him of Clay. That's too funny!
Taylor Vaifanua: She is singing through her nose a little. her vocal is also a little pitchy. Once she got into her upper range... she actually sounds pretty good. WOW... it is like listening to two different people. It wasn't good enough to get her through to the TOP 12.
Alex Wagner Trugman: This is a strange performance. What is he doing??? He is way over-singing.
Arianna Afsar: She is not off to a very good start. This is not a good song for her voice. She is like a formally-trained singer trying to sound contemporary. It is unnatural for her. she also has a very unfocused sound to her voice. The airy notes are just off. Oooh... she lost it on the last note too. Not good.
Ju'not Joyner: I am not sure that I like what he is doing with "Delilah". It is a strange performance. Is he going to fall asleep while he's singing? I think I am. LOVED the high note. WOW! The boy can SING... but why did he pick this song? Even though I didn't like the song... I DID like Ju'not.
The judges were way too kind. I think their positive feedback is based more on his potential as on the show... than how he did in this particular performance.
Kristen McNamara: She has a little bit of a Faith Hill sound to her voice. I could hear her singing a country song. This song is not right for her voice. The ending was a little weak.
Natahiel Marshall: I don't like this guy. I can't even seriously critique him. He needs to go home. "Drama queen" is exactly right. He should not even be here tonight.
Felicia Barton: I LOVE this song. I sure hope she doesn't butcher it. WOW! She actually sounds great. In some ways I like it better than Alecia's recording (I love the song... but it has always annoyed me that she sings the whole song SHARP! Why did she record it that way?) OK... back to Felicia: She broke a couple of those high notes... but she is still the best female vocal so far tonight.
Scott McIntire: While I AM a fan of Scott (the person)... I am NOT a fan of Scott (the singer). I just don't think he is that strong of a vocalist. There is not enough emotion in his voice. It is just an average... "matter of fact" sounding voice. He reminds me too much of Josh Groban (And... in case you didn't know... I am not a Josh Groban fan). I don't think this performance is good enough to get him through to the next level. But then... America doesn't always vote for the best vocalist in this "vocal" competition.
Jorge Nunez: Great song! I am a huge fan of Elton John's music (notice... I said his MUSIC). I hope Jorge can pull it off. Oooh... he is singing everything a little on the sharp side. He does have a nice voice though. I really like this guy. I am not sure that he is American Idol material... and I'm not sure that this performance is good enough to get him to the TOP 12... but I DO like this guy.
Lil Rounds: This is what I have been waiting for all night. This girl can SING! WOW! She is ELECTRIC! Great vocal! Great performance! She has an amazing voice. No doubt... she will be in the TOP 12. If you ask me... she could win it all this season. She's got the look... she's got the sound... she's got the poise. Lil rounds is the "real deal"!

Yeah, I agree with the picks, although I was bored with Ju'Not tonight. I like Von too, though... but he's hard to WATCH singing. :P
I HATED Alex's performance...just hated every bit of it.
And you forgot Kendall! I liked her, but I can't see her doing anything but country well. :D
Here's how I think the voting will actually go though:
Lil - #1 female
Scott - #1 male (I'll be really surprised if he's not voted through)
Von or Felicia - third pick
Wonder who the wild cards will be...
I liked all of your pics and out of all the shows so far, I enjoyed this one the most and I thought Lil was great and I didn't so much like her during the previous auditions cause she was a yelling at me, well, not at me, but you know what I mean
Loved Felicia, Lil, and liked Von.
Hope these are the ones to get in.
I'm looking forward to the Wild card show and wonder who they will be bringin' back.
Such fun to watch and I always look forward to your posting about it.
