Sticky

Mark Twain once said “A lie can get halfway around the world before the truth can even get its boots on.”

Why is that? Why is it that good ideas have such a hard time getting off of the ground... but an urban legend (sent in the form of an e-mail) can convince millions of readers that it is truth? It's probably because the lie is a lot more engaging and interesting than we tend to make the truth... right? At NewPointe... when we are deciding on a creative element to use in our services... we make sure that it has the "sticky factor". We want to make sure that our ideas are understood and remembered, and have a lasting impact — that they have the potential to change people's opinions or behavior. For us... that simply means that we don't just program a "cool" element... or even an "on topic" element... but that it is something that people will remember long after the Sunday experience. It's sticky. What we have to share is THE TRUTH and we want THE TRUTH to stick... right? So in our Weekend Design Team meetings... we take a look at the ONE (not four or five) "bottom line take away" from the morning and ask ourselves, "How can we say THAT in a way that people will actually remember it?" Then we use technology, pop culture, shock & surprise, the arts, illustrations, props, humor, secular music, crowd games, give-ways... whatever it takes to help people remember the experience long after they leave NewPointe.

BTW: For the first 2 weeks of the "One Month To Live" series that we are in right now... we used technology (The "death calculator" with precious seconds ticking off in real-time... and then the text messaging gig for week 2) ... last week we used give-aways (movie passes)... this weekend... the sticky factor is going to be SHOCK & SURPRISE. That's all I'm saying... you will just have to be there (or watch it LIVE on-line) to believe it! And you will never forget it... trust me.
